Mpayo agebiri is inspired by covid-19 and how it affected the economy. The increase in prices of diesel and petrol in Uganda is attributed to the global rise in crude oil. The global oil prices had climbed above $80 a barrel by late September 2021.
The commissioner in charge of petroleum supply and distribution, Rev Frank Justave Tukwasibwe said that the rise in fuel prices is not unique to Uganda. “It is global, not that it is unique to Uganda,” he explained. Aside the fact that this was a global challenge, Covid-19 futher accelerated the increase of the prices as the truck drivers transpoting the fuel had to do routine Covid-19 checks hence cause alot of delay and therefore the increase in the prices which greatly affected the economy
